What we put in the body is the strongest medicine of all. Nutrition is the core of all health. When providing herbal or food therapy, we evaluate not only the pet’s disease process but factors in it’s lifestyle which can be discussed during your consultation.

Herbal Medicine

At Cat Care of Fayette we offer herbal medicine consultations. Many people turn to herbs when all conventional medicine has failed, but herbals can be considered in the forefront and typically has little to no side effects unlike many western pharmaceuticals.

FAQs

My cat is difficult to medicate. How will I administer them?

Many herbals are offered in a flavored tincture (drop) form that can be administered over food. We can discuss options based on your pet’s diagnosis and herbals avaialble for the condition.

Are there any side effects of herbal therapy?

In cats and dogs, the most common side effects of herbal therapy is vomiting and diarrhea at initial administration if there is any. There is typically no other side effects noticed. In exotics, they typically tolerate herbals with no GI upset.

Does herbal therapy really work?

If the correct herbal is chosen and administered appropriately then yes. Unlike conventional pharmaceuticals, it may take longer to see obvious effects. For acute conditions, stronger herbals are often used which result in a faster effect. In more chronic conditions, the effect of the herb may take longer to show.
